We hear a lot about big storytellers. While I love a good yarn*, I’m a story listener. I was always in trouble in elementary school for talking and getting my friends to talk. Now that’s my career! Whether driving strategic initiatives, doing executive coaching, or facilitating strategy sessions, my passion is listening: uncovering diverse perspectives, reframing thorny issues, and helping divergent parties get on the same side of the table to craft surprising solutions. I have worked across the federal government as well as private and non-profit sectors to help leaders create powerful legacies by setting and successfully executing their strategic priorities. My background in finance and strategy helps me listen for hard business impacts; my experience as a talkative kindergartner and certified executive coach helps me listen for social complexity and organizational dynamics that are critical to mission success. Ultimately, I support clients in achieving business results by engaging stakeholders, gaining consensus for action, creating motivation for implementation, and generating commitment to lasting impact. The Clearing introduces me to fascinating people who are committed to making a positive impact in their work and the world. Getting to listen to their stories and goals, I collaborate with them to drive strategic initiatives, work with their teams to streamline work, or transform their team performance and culture. Currently, I am designing and leading leadership development programs and skills training at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), and non-profits and private industry, including The Clearing’s own programs for rising managers and leaders. I am a certified leadership coach through the Georgetown Institute of Transformational Leadership and am certified in team coaching through Corentus. I received my Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and French, with a heavy Russian focus, from Miami University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland. My biggest cred: raising three boys, two cats, and one lizard with my sweet spouse in our small house in the city. * Pun: Knitting needles and merino are my near-constant companions.
