In my role as a Senior Principal, I bring over 25 years of active military service with focus in strategic communications, operational and strategic planning, and first-hand experience at the senior-most levels of the Department of Defense (DoD). Before joining The Clearing I most recently served as the Chief of the Strategic Initiatives Group for the Director of the Army National Guard where I transformed the organization from a current state, tactical focus into a strategic, future focused organization while managing the strategic communications, public affairs, and global engagement plans for a Three-Star General. During my military career, I held numerous planner and strategist positions within the military. As the Joint Staff Plans Officer for Indo-Pacific Command, II developed briefs for President Obama and President Trump. I routinely briefed senior officers including the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and numerous Congressional Staffers as well. I also served as the Branch Chief for Global Posture, where I led numerous reform efforts within the U.S. military’s overseas force structure, integrated Global Posture requirements across the Services and contributed to the first Joint Military Net Assessment since the end of the Cold War. I have a B.A. in History from McDaniel College, an M.A. in Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict from American Military University, an M.M.A.S in Theater Operations from The U.S. Army’s School of Advanced Military Studies, and an M.S. in National Security Strategy from the National War College. In addition, I was awarded numerous decorations and awards, including the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with three Campaign Stars, the Joint Staff Identification Badge, and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
